AIS 'Moldpres' celebrates 35 years of activity

On 20 June, State News Agency 'Moldpres' celebrates 35 years since its establishment, a symbolic moment for one of the longest-running media institutions in the Republic of Moldova. Founded in a complex historical context, Moldpres has been a witness and chronicler of important moments for the country: the institution has captured the moment through memorable news and photos, serving as an important channel of information.

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary, MOLDPRES Agency director Vitalie Hadei expressed appreciation for the institution's employees, highlighting their dedication and professionalism.

Message from director of AIS 'Moldpres', Vitalie Hadei:

'On the 35th anniversary of the founding of the State News Agency 'Moldpres', an institution that has played an important role in reflecting significant events that have marked the history of the Republic of Moldova, I want to thank all those who have contributed to the agency's good name.'

AIS 'Moldpres' began operating in a complex historical context, marked by profound changes in society. Over the years, 'Moldpres' agency has witnessed significant historical events such as the proclamation of Moldova's Independence in 1991, the adoption of the Constitution in 1994, and our republic's integration into international structures. Our institution 'captured the moment' through memorable news and photos, on every page of Official Journal, serving as an important channel of information both for Moldovan citizens and audience abroad.

Today, AIS 'Moldpres' continues to be a reliable source of information for the public and an important partner for the media, as well as for state institutions. Through its activity, the institution contributes to the comprehensive informing of the public, the promotion of transparency and accountability in the decision-making process, and the strengthening of democracy and the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova.

At this anniversary moment, we cannot forget the efforts of all those who have contributed to the development of Moldpres, even though the times have not always been favorable for modernization. I want to thank those who work currently at Moldpres for their dedication and professionalism. Through joint efforts, we have managed to withstand a volatile media market, and today we are celebrating 35 years since the founding, achievement that few media institutions in Moldova can boast.

As a manager, I will strive to ensure all necessary conditions for conducting activities so that Moldpres remains a reliable source and a model of professionalism in the Moldovan media market!

Good luck, colleagues! Happy anniversary, Moldpres!'

35 years of activity and new achievements in institutional cooperation

In November 2024, AIS 'Moldpres' published the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. The publication includes all amendments on the country's European integration vector, approved by the constitutional republican referendum on 20 October 2024, as well as those regarding the declaration of the Romanian language as the official state language.

The year 2025 marked new achievements in institutional cooperation. Moldpres expanded its partnerships with European and Eastern Partnership news agencies, as well as with nationally important media institutions in the Republic of Moldova.

Moldpres–Agerpres: A valuable bridge of cooperation and communication between the Republic of Moldova and Romania

The relationship with the Romanian National News Agency, AGERPRES, was strengthened by signing a new cooperation agreement on 11 April 2025. The agreement reflects the close ties and deep community of language, culture, and history that link Romania to the Republic of Moldova. The collaboration between AGERPRES and MOLDPRES is not only about the exchange of information and best practices but also about an efficient communication of European values in society.

Moldpres–Adnkronos: Moldovan-Italian media cooperation

In March 2025, Moldpres concluded a cooperation agreement with the Italian Agency Adnkronos. The two media institutions agreed to establish a fruitful friendship and professional collaboration. The agreement includes the exchange of information, implementation of joint projects for the development of the information space, promotion of objective reporting in cultural, humanitarian, economic, sports and political fields.

Moldpres–Armenpress: Informational dialogue between Moldova and Armenia

On 1 April 2025, Moldpres signed a Cooperation Agreement with Armenpress Agency from Yerevan. The document aims at developing a common information space and strengthening Moldovan-Armenian relations. The two countries share a tradition of friendship and strong cultural ties, and this media collaboration seeks to bring them closer together.

Moldpres–TRM: Strengthening cooperation in media in the Republic of Moldova

On 10 April 2025, the State News Agency 'Moldpres' signed a cooperation agreement with the Public Institution Teleradio-Moldova (TRM). Moldpres and TRM aim to promote topics of common interest: European integration, regional development, culture, education and combating propaganda.

Through the strategic partnerships, Moldpres consolidates its role as a main supplier of public information and contributes to building an open, professional media space anchored in European values.

The history of AIS 'Moldpres' establishment and development

The State News Agency 'Moldpres' originated in the lively period of national rebirth. In 1990, amidst a context marked by the transition to independence and the affirmation of national identity, the Supreme Soviet of the Moldovan SSR (the current Parliament of the Republic of Moldova) decided to liquidate the Moldovan Telegraph Agency—a tool of Soviet propaganda—and ordered the creation of a new media institution: the National News Agency 'Moldova-pres'.

The new agency was to be under the authority of Parliament and reflect the political, social, and cultural realities of the new historical stage. 'Moldova-pres' was conceived as an institution meant to contribute to asserting the informational sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova, to correctly inform the public and to support the democratization process.

Over the years, the agency has evolved into Moldpres—a hallmark of institutional journalism and a pillar of disseminating official information in the Republic of Moldova.

Moldpres Agency's  mission is to ensure the production and dissemination of information, publishing and editing official documents, informing public opinion in the country and abroad on current events, state policy and public authorities' activity, providing editorial and printing services, producing photo and video materials.

AIS 'Moldpres' edits and prints the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova, the only official publication of the state, a public structure of national interest, which ensures high professionalism in publishing the law that must be known and applied exactly by authorities and citizens.
