European Commissioner for enlargement Marta Kos arrived today in the village of Negureni, Teleneşti district, where she spoke with residents, listening to their challenges and hopes regarding Moldova's European future.

The European official also experienced a surprise. Well-known artist and television personality Emilian Crețu, born in Negureni, invited her to a Moldovan meal with soup, pies and famous dessert 'Cușma lui Guguță'.

On this occasion, the commissioner said 'traditions are the soul of every European nation — and European integration does not erase them, but protects them and makes them known across the entire continent.'

Marta Kos will spend three days in the Republic of Moldova. The official will visit Bălți, Edineț, Orhei, Ungheni, Cahul and Comrat.

The official explained that commissioner visits are typically planned for a single day. However, she will spend three days in the Republic of Moldova. During this time, the European commissioner will meet with local leaders, businesspeople, students and residents of villages and towns.

'I will meet your citizens, listen to your people, listen to the mayors, local representatives, farmers, wine and honey producers, those working in tourism, and students. We will discuss with those who managed to grow a business with the support of the European Union, such as the Agri-Food Center in Ungheni. I want to hear what they expect from Europe, I want to hear their hopes and concerns, so that we can achieve unprecedented success in realizing this growth plan,' stated Marta Kos, who, yesterday morning, signed in Chișinău, together with Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the Agreement on the Economic Growth Plan for Moldova.

Kos stated she wants to speak with people who will benefit from this Economic Growth Plan worth 1.9 billion euros.

'I am looking forward to seeing much more of your beautiful country. I can't wait to meet your truly generous people.', added the commissioner.

The European commissioner is accompanied by a delegation including MEPs Siegfried Mureșan and Daniel Barna, as well as officials from the European Commission. The program includes a series of activities and meetings in various regions of the country.
