Head of State attends Europe Day events, Family Festival in Ungheni
President Maia Sandu participated today alongside European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos in Europe Day events organized in Ungheni. The head of state emphasized that for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, this day holds special significance. It is the day we commemorate the sacrifice of our forebears and reaffirm the chosen direction: the European path of peace and prosperity.
"On this day, we not only celebrate European values, but we also commit, once again, to transforming them into reality here at home. Every European project implemented in Ungheni and throughout the country – be it in infrastructure, education, health or culture – is a living testament to the benefits of our closeness to the European Union. Each such project brings Europe closer, brings change, brings hope," Maia Sandu said.
The head of state expressed gratitude to all those who, through their hard work and commitment, are making the European goal of the Republic of Moldova a reality. "I want to thank the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have chosen democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. I want to thank our European partners who support and encourage us," Maia Sandu said.
Today Family Festival was organized in Ungheni. The head of state emphasized that family is where we learn to care for one another, to be in solidarity, to build together. "European Moldova we are building must be, first of all, a country where families live in safety, prosperity and with confidence in tomorrow," Maia Sandu said.
Each year, on 9 May, Europe Day, we celebrate peace and unity. On this occasion, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the EU Delegation organized several events both in the capital and in several cities across the country. In Chișinău, a large-scale event was organized in the Great National Assembly Square starting at 13:00, while in Ungheni, Cahul and Căușeni the traditional European Towns were opened.
In Chișinău, the day will conclude with a concert starting at 19:00.
