BUDGET PLUS // 11,463 Moldovan children of with severe, enhanced, moderate disabilities to receive 5,000 lei Easter aid

A total of 11,463 children with severe, enhanced and moderate disabilities will each receive 5,000 lei as Easter aid. Some of the beneficiaries have already collected the payments.

According to the competent authorities, the total value of this Easter aid is 470 million lei, funds allocated within the Budget +Plus project. The one-off state aid will also be provided to the 20,976 families caring for adults with severe disabilities, as well as the 203,000 families with children under the age of five.

Stela Stratu, from the Ocnita district, mother of a child with autism, said that the aid had been deposited onto the social card on May 2. She noted that she would spend the money on sensory toys and school supplies, as her son is in school.

"The support provided by the authorities aims to slightly ease the complicated life of families raising exceptional children. These wonderful children require additional expenses, including for medication and a diet that differs from other children," she also said.

The father of a child with Down syndrome from the Falesti district told MOLDPRES that he had received the aid just a few days ago, on the card, and plans to buy his child a bicycle with the money.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu has earlier said that these payments were made possible thanks to the support of the European Union. He specified that the aid would reach over 230,000 families. The money is transferred to the present social card where beneficiaries already receive certain social benefits or to another bank card identified by the government and entered into the databases of the National Social Insurance Office.

At the same time, if beneficiaries do not own any social or bank card, the money can be collected from post offices. For citizens abroad, the payment will be available until the end of the year.
