Social Laundry Solidarity was inaugurated in Căușeni, an innovative service intended for vulnerable people: elderly, people with disabilities and low-income families. The event was part of Europe Day's program, celebrated late last week in the locality.
More than 100 beneficiaries from Căușeni will have free access to essential services. With the support of the European Union and local authorities, this space offers not only hygiene services but also counseling, workshops, and social support.
Attending the event were Jānis Mažeiks, Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, as well as ambassadors of several EU member states accredited to Chisinau, along with representatives of local public authorities, civil society and community members.
“The European Union is more than a financial partner – it is a trustworthy ally of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Through such concrete initiatives, we show that our support has a direct and positive impact on people’s daily lives. The Social Laundry in Căușeni is a clear example of solidarity translated into action,” estimated Jānis Mažeiks.
The laundry was opened by AO “Pro Bono” and Căușeni City Hall, as part of the Promoting NGOs as partners in developing resilient social services project, funded by the EU and implemented by the consortium: Keystone Moldova, Dorcas Moldova and Neoumanist Association. The total budget of the project is 81,300 EUR, of which 24,900 EUR is financed by the European Union, and 56,400 EUR is the contribution of Căușeni city hall.
Căușeni laundry is one of the 16 launched nationwide thanks to the support provided by the European Union.
