How Moldovan voters voted in Romania's presidential election

Most Moldovans with Romanian citizenship who participated in the runoff presidential elections in Romania cast their votes for independent candidate Nicușor Dan. He received 88% or 138,320 of the votes cast by voters in our country.

AUR party candidate George Simion received 18,868 votes cast in our country, or 12%.

For the presidential elections in Romania, 64 polling stations were opened in the Republic of Moldova. The voting took place over three days. During this period, over 158,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted in our country, marking a historic turnout. For comparison, in the first round of the presidential elections in Romania, held two weeks ago, about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship exercised their right to vote over three days.

Voters from the Republic of Moldova were among the most active in the Romanian presidential election, alongside those from countries like Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain.

After the announcement of the provisional results, independent candidate Nicușor Dan sent a special message of thanks to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and President Maia Sandu.

Thank you to President Maia Sandu for the congratulatory message and for the support in these days,” Nicușor Dan wrote on his Facebook account.

The Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania announced that after centralizing the reports from all the over 20,000 polling stations in the country and abroad, Nicușor Dan obtained 53.60% of the votes, while George Simion received 46.40%.
