Investments in research infrastructure in universities: three institutions to implement projects with funding of 9.25 million euros
Three higher education institutions will receive total investments of 9.25 million euros for the modernization of research infrastructure. The funds will be invested in modern equipment and facilities, which will enable the implementation of 11 research projects. The winning initiatives were announced today in Chișinău.
Thus, the State University of Moldova has won five projects and is to receive 4.5 million euros for facilities and equipment. The Technical University has won four projects and will receive 3.6 million euros, while Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy will implement two projects, with a total value of approximately 1.5 million euros.
The investments are made under the “Higher Education in Moldova” Project, implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research and financed by the World Bank.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said today at a press conference that the aim of the initiative was to ensure access to the resources needed for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment that would allow the implementation of research projects.
“The project aimed to provide 9.25 million euros for the development of research infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova, through a competitive process open to all universities and research institutes in the country. The resources are made available for the purchase of equipment. The goal of the project is to cover investment needs for research infrastructure and to provide institutions with the financial resources necessary to purchase state-of-the-art equipment,” said Dan Perciun.
The process of evaluating and selecting the projects submitted to the competition was rigorous, with the initiatives being assessed in a final stage by experts from Romania.
The 11 projects cover key fields with the highest research potential, including agriculture and agricultural production processing, information technologies, energy, exact and natural sciences, biomedicine, and biopharmaceutics.
The implementation period of the projects is 30 months.
