Alert in south of Moldova: Gheran-2 drone exploded near village of Copanca
A Gheran-2 (Shahed 136) drone exploded on the night of July 13 in the area of the village of Copanca, Căușeni district, after allegedly flying through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova in the context of air attacks launched by the Russian Federation on Ukraine’s Odesa region.
According to the Air Operations Service of the National Army, the object was detected at 01:03. Preliminary, the authorities determined that it was a Gheran-2 (Shahed 136) drone, which entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova before exploding near the locality of Copanca.
Specialist teams from the competent structures are intervening on site and are conducting investigations to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The authorities urge citizens to exercise caution if they observe aircraft or suspicious fragments. People are advised not to approach them, not to touch them, and not to attempt to move them, as they may contain explosive elements sensitive to radio waves.
At the same time, citizens are urged to remember the location where the object was observed, move away to a distance of at least 500 meters, and call Emergency Service 112 only after they are outside the danger zone.
