330 kV Bălți–Dnestrovsk power line severely damaged by natural disasters

CHIȘINĂU, Aug. 6 /MOLDPRES/- 330 kV high-voltage Bălți–Dnestrovsk power line has been severely damaged by natural disasters, and restoration work is underway. According to Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu, about 10 high-voltage pylons were affected or knocked to the ground near the municipality of Bălți.

"As a result of the natural disasters, the 330 kV Bălți–Dnestrovsk power line was severely damaged. According to preliminary assessments, about 10 high-voltage pylons were affected or knocked to the ground, about 15 km from the municipality of Bălți," the minister said.

Teams from the electricity transmission system operator, Moldelectrica, are on site inspecting the affected sections to determine the exact extent of the damage and the technical solutions needed for intervention. Dorin Junghietu noted that if the work were carried out exclusively with Moldelectrica’s own resources, the restoration period would exceed seven days.

"That is why we have requested an assessment of all options to speed up the work, including the involvement of other specialized companies and the immediate verification of material stocks," the Minister of Energy said.

According to the minister, the authorities’ priority is the fastest and safest possible restoration of the damaged energy infrastructure, by mobilizing all available resources.
