President Maia Sandu met today with 120 children and young people from the first group of the DOR camp – who came from all over the world and from the Republic of Moldova. The official emphasized that the young people have a strong connection with our country, regardless of the distance that separates them from home.
The meeting took place this morning in Holercani, on the banks of the Dniester River.
“We spoke with the 120 children and young people from the first group of the DOR camp – who came from all over the world and from the Republic of Moldova. We talked, we laughed and I could feel how strong their bond with our country remains, regardless of the distance that separates them from home,” said Maia Sandu.
The head of state noted that the DOR camp is the place where they can better rediscover their roots, make friends, speak Romanian and rediscover our history and traditions.
“I wish each participant leaves here carrying Moldova in their heart and that they always come back with love,” said Maia Sandu.
This year, 240 children from the diaspora and Moldova will take part in the 14th edition of the governmental program DOR – Diaspora*Origins*Returns. Throughout the program, the children will enjoy a unique experience, with workshops, games, emotions and unforgettable memories. For many of them, DOR means rediscovering their roots and strengthening their connection with the Republic of Moldova.
DOR is a program dedicated both to children and young people from the diaspora and to those from the Republic of Moldova, and it is carried out under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the Bureau for Relations with the Diaspora. The initiative aims to establish an emotional connection with the Republic of Moldova and to promote and preserve national traditions and values.
This year, the DOR program will take place in two groups, each with 120 participants. The first group will be held from 4 to 12 August, and the second group from 14 to 22 August.
Participation in the DOR Program is free of charge. The costs are covered from the state budget, with participants bearing only the transport expenses to and from the Republic of Moldova.
