Prime Minister held talks with Bulgarian counterpart

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan had a telephone conversation with his Bulgarian counterpart, Rumen Radev. The discussions focused on the European path of the Republic of Moldova, joint projects, and opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation.

The official thanked Bulgaria for the constant support for the Republic of Moldova in the process of European integration and for its willingness to share with our country the experience gained during its accession to the EU.

Tofan also emphasized the role of the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova in developing relations between the two states and reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to protecting its linguistic and cultural identity.

Another topic concerned the ongoing local public administration reform in the Republic of Moldova. The Prime Minister of Bulgaria welcomed the process of consolidating municipalities and expressed support for the efforts of the authorities in Chișinău.

The prime ministers highlighted the potential for expanding trade and investment, as well as the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of energy security. The two premiers referred to the development of joint projects and the harnessing of opportunities offered by the Vertical Gas Corridor – a strategic energy infrastructure project connecting Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine.
