ASD head: From Northern construction sites to Southern roads, thousands of citizens and communities to directly benefit from state-funded projects
From the construction sites in the north to the roads in the south, thousands of citizens and local communities will directly benefit from the projects carried out by the State Road Administration, which are funded through the road fund, said Sergiu Bejan, director-general of the State Road Administration (ASD), who inspected the construction sites in the northern region.
The visit began at the construction site of the regional road G50 Florești-Nicolaevca-Sîngerei, in the Sîngerei district, the section between the localities of Radoaia and Sîngerei. On this section, periodic maintenance works are being carried out, which include the repair of road surfaces over a length of 8.3 km, with a value of approximately 36.6 million lei. Modernization works on this road, awaited for years by the community, are 63% complete.
'The completion of this project will significantly contribute to increasing the safety and comfort of citizens, facilitating a smoother and safer flow of traffic for all road users', he said.
Another infrastructure project evaluated was the construction site on the national road R15.1 Bălți-M5, Bălți, where significant modernization works of road infrastructure are underway.
'This road plays an essential role in ensuring connections between localities in the region and the main transport network, which is why its rehabilitation is of major importance for local residents. On the regional road R15.1, over 7,000 units travel per day, including both light vehicles and heavy traffic. Modernizing this 2.3 km section will considerably improve facilities for local traffic, ensuring a safer and smoother flow', he said.
The estimated value of the repair works is around 14 million lei and includes, besides the road surface repair, interventions to enhance road safety, such as marking applications, installing road signs, and other related works. Additionally, sidewalks will be arranged in the locality of Bălți to ensure pedestrian safety and improve accessibility in the area.
'The R15.1 road is an important regional road connecting the municipality of Bălți to the Glodeni district. It is a road with a cement concrete structure, and after the repair works, it will provide safer and more comfortable traffic for all users', noted Sergiu Bejan.
The visit ended at the construction site of the regional road G63 R17-Fălești-Bocani-Coșcodeni-M5, in Fălești district. The length of the section under repair is 8.5 km, and the value of the works amounts to approximately 32 million lei.
It is worth mentioning that the road fund has been increased by one billion lei, meaning that by 2025 its size will reach 2.7 billion lei. The main objective of the project is to redistribute financial resources between expenditure chapters and additionally include some regional road sections with the 'G' index, which involve repair works over a length of approximately 123 kilometers.
