Eugen Doga International Airport from Chisinau European leader in growth of passenger traffic among medium-sized airports

The Eugen Doga International Airport from Chisinau has been recognized as the European leader in the medium-sized airport category for passenger traffic’s growth in September 2025, according to the latest report published by ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International Europe).

According to the report, the Chisinau airport recorded a +45.5-per cent increase in passenger traffic compared to September 2024, ranking first among European airports in the same category – those that manage between 1 and 10 million passengers annually.

This performance significantly contributes to the overall growth of air traffic in non-EU+ countries, where an increase of +8.3-per cent was recorded, more than twice the continental average (+3.6 per cent) and over five percentage points above the EU+ market (+2.7 per cent).

The ACI EUROPE report also shows that international passenger traffic (+4.3 per cent) continued to expand more rapidly than on domestic routes (+1per cent), confirming a trend of steady recovery and growth in the aviation sector.

“The result achieved by the Eugen Doga International Airport of Chisinau reflects the growing resilience, competitiveness and attractiveness of the operated destinations, as well as the ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline the services provided to passengers. This top positioning confirms the strategic role of the airport as the main connecting hub of Moldova with the European and regional space,” the airport's management said.

The Chisinau-based Eugen Doga International Airport continues to register significant growth in air traffic, maintaining the upward trend of recent months. Statistics data for October 2025 shows a record volume of passengers and a positive dynamic of flights operated to and from the capital of Moldova.
