Moldova Energy Forum opens in Chișinău

The Republic of Moldova is at a defining moment for its energy future. Energy security is not a privilege but an essential condition for economic development and social stability, and the authorities are opting for an energy system that not only meets internal needs but also makes our country a reliable partner in the European market. The position was expressed by Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu, who participated today in the opening of Moldova Energy Forum 2025, organized in Chișinău.

'We are at a defining moment for the country's energy future. The crises we have been through have taught us valuable lessons. We have understood that energy security is not a privilege, but an essential condition for economic development and social stability. Moldova can—we have the capacity, we have the political will, and the support of international partners to transform our energy sector into a modern, sustainable, and integrated one with the European system,' said Junghietu.

The minister also presented Moldova's recent progress in the renewable energy. Additionally, he announced that tenders for the installation of large-scale renewable parks will bring direct investments of 200 million euros over the next three years.

At the same time, Dorin Junghietu thanked the European Union for the support of 250 million euros allocated this year, intended for the modernization of energy infrastructure, support for vulnerable consumers, and transition to renewable sources.

'We are making the transformation together. With our international partners, private investors, and civil society. We have not only managed crises but have built sustainable solutions. We want an energy system that not only meets internal needs but also makes Moldova a reliable partner in the European energy market,' concluded Junghietu.

Moldova Energy Forum 2025 offers an essential platform for identifying common solutions, attracting investments, and promoting a responsible and sustainable energy transition in the Republic of Moldova. The forum has gathered over 140 participants: industry experts, public authorities, investors, renewable project developers, and representatives of international organizations.

Recently, authorities approved the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan, by which Moldova aims for 30% of its final energy consumption to come from renewable sources by 2030, along with a 68.5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990 levels.
