Moldova’s IT exports to EU grow by almost 20 per cent in one year
Exports of IT services from Moldova to the European Union reached 285.5 million euros in 2025, increasing by nearly 20 per cent compared with the year before. Romania, Germany and Belgium are the main destinations for Moldovan IT services on the European market, which absorbed almost 40 per cent of the country’s total IT service exports. The data was presented by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
According to the BNM, exports of IT services to the 27 EU member states have grown steadily in recent years. In 2024, they amounted to 238.7 million euros, compared with approximately 198 million euros in 2023.
Thus, in 2025, the value of IT services exported to the European market increased by 46.8 million euros compared with the previous year, representing growth of approximately 19.6 per cent. Compared with 2023, the increase exceeded 44 per cent.
“The trend is also visible over the long term. In 2020, Moldova’s exports of IT services to the European Union amounted to approximately 91 million euros. Over five years, their value more than tripled, reaching 285.5 million euros in 2025. The European Union thus remains the main foreign market for Moldovan IT services, providing companies from Moldova with access to an extensive market and opportunities to collaborate with international partners,” the cited source explains.
Unlike goods exports, IT services rely primarily on professional skills, the development of digital solutions and companies’ ability to provide services remotely. The growth in exports shows the expansion of Moldovan companies’ activities in this sector and the strengthening of trade relations with European partners, the BNM concludes.
