Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved the agreement, which provides for the liberalization of the air transport between Moldova and Ukraine, signed with the Ukrainian cabinet in Kiev on 12 April 2018.

At present, the bilateral relations in the air transport field are regulated based on the agreement between the governments of the two states, signed on 20 March 1993, as well as a string of additional protocols concluded based on the provisions of this document between the aviation authorities of Moldova and Ukraine.

The new agreement provides for stipulations aimed at freely setting the tariffs, according to the principles of free and fair competition, as well as at nominating more transport operators for carrying out the flights, which meet the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization. The agreement is to enter into force not earlier than 15 July 2018.

The new provisions will create conditions for the development of the air transport between the sides, in line with the international standards, will facilitate the work of the air operators, creating premises for increasing the number of air companies due to operate flights between the two countries. In the context, the enhancement of the level of competition on the air services market will trigger a better quality of the services provided and will contribute to the cutting of prices for plane tickets.
