Moldovan carriers will no longer pay road taxes in Armenia for ECMT trips

International road freight carriers from the Republic of Moldova will be able to travel through the territory of Armenia without paying road taxes for trips carried out on the basis of multilateral ECMT permits.

The National Road Transport Agency (ANTA) announces that vehicles registered in ECMT member states, with a maximum permitted total weight of up to 44 tons, are exempt from paying the road tax in the Republic of Armenia.

“The exemption applies to vehicles that perform transport operations on the basis of multilateral ECMT permits and covers both transport operations to and from Armenia, as well as those carried out in transit to third countries. The measure is relevant for Moldovan carriers performing international trips through Armenia, as it eliminates the costs related to the road tax for eligible vehicles,” ANTA said.

ANTA also notes that it is available to transport operators who need clarifications regarding the application of these provisions on the territory of Armenia.
