European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food to pay first visit to Moldova
European Commissioner for Agriculture Christophe Hansen on September 1-2 will pay a working visit to Moldova, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of agriculture and rural development.
According to the EU Delegation in Chisinau, the official will visit agricultural enterprises and associations, fruits producers and exporters, as well as a Local Action Group in Stefan Voda. During these meetings, discussions will focus on rural development and the competitiveness of Moldovan products on foreign markets.
At the same time, the Commissioner will visit a dairy factory, in order to discuss attracting investments and how to add value to local agricultural production.
The Commissioner will also meet President Maia Sandu to discuss challenges and opportunities in agriculture.
The visit will conclude with a trip to a centralized irrigation system in Criuleni, which requires rehabilitation. On this occasion, the Commissioner will directly tackle with farmers the necessary solutions for modernizing the irrigation infrastructure – an essential condition for adapting to climate change and enhancing the sustainability of the agricultural sector.
