PHOTO // Deputy PM says Moldova's European path supported by all EU member states

Moldova is not alone, and our European path is fully supported by all member states of the European Union. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov has made statements to this effect, after more bilateral meetings with counterparts from EU member states, on the sidelines of the informal General Affairs Council’s (GAC) meeting in Copenhagen.

The official emphasized that the discussions’ agenda had been focused on the political realities in Moldova, as well as the country's accession process to the European Union.

‘’We talked about the developments in the region and at home, about the challenges we face on the eve of the parliamentary elections due on September 28, and about our country's reform agenda and the next steps in the EU accession process,’’ said Cristina Gherasimov.

The Deputy prime minister thanked the European partners for their friendship, openness and for supporting the European path Moldova.

‘’Moldova is not alone and our European journey is fully supported by all EU member states. This is the message conveyed to me today by my counterparts from Italy, France, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Hungary,’’ Cristina Gherasimov noted.

The event, held under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the EU Council, brought together ministers for European affairs from the 27 EU member states and representatives of candidate countries, including Moldova.

Besides participating in debates with ministers for European affairs from EU member states and candidate countries, the agenda included bilateral meetings with European officials, discussions with Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Taras Kachka, as well as meetings with representatives from Croatia, Portugal and Hungary.

At the same time, the agenda includes discussions with civil society and young people in Denmark, promoting the importance of citizens’ involvement in the European integration process.
