Moldovan foreign affairs minister says relies on continuity, diplomacy must showcase society’s achievements
The achievements got by Moldova in the field of foreign affairs must be maintained and enhanced by the next government, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has said. The official welcomed Alexandru Munteanu's candidacy for the position of prime minister and emphasized that he relies on continuity at the MAE.
"Our achievements must be consolidated, in order to support diplomacy and the progress of society. There is still much work to do, and these achievements must be further cemented, so that our diplomacy continues to highlight the nice things and achievements made by our society," said Popsoi.
Moldova’s relations with all partner states are "quite solid," Popsoi stressed. The official said that authorities must work to protect the rights of Moldovans abroad and develop partnerships, in order to promote the national interest of Moldova.
The deputy PM noted that he personally knew the candidate of PAS for the position of prime minister and offered him full support:
"I had the opportunity to meet him a month or two ago during an event, as part of a high delegation's visit to Moldova. From the CV that you all know, he is a high-caliber candidate with extensive experience, which speaks for itself. I certainly welcomed this decision and fully support it.
Once this candidacy was identified, it was deemed good enough to be officially put forward, so any other discussions are unnecessary. The decision is made, as it is only natural, by the statutory bodies of the party, in order to be put forward in accordance with the legal provisions in force," added Popsoi.
At the same time, the deputy prime minister also responded to journalists' questions about whether he will remain in the new Government's lineup:
"I rely on continuity, or the good things started in the current government must continue."
