BTA: Bulgarian President, Armenian PM Sign Strategic Partnership Declaration
Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two countries in Yerevan on Sunday, the President’s press secretariat reported. The sides expressed hope that the new government in Bulgaria would more actively develop bilateral cooperation.
Iotova and Pashinyan highlighted the high level of political dialogue between Bulgaria and Armenia. Both were adamant that there is significant untapped potential for developing bilateral relations in a number of areas. They emphasized strengthening ties in the economy, energy, security, and defence.
The meeting highlighted the traditionally good relations between the Bulgarian and Armenian peoples. Pashinyan thanked Iotova for the conditions provided by the Bulgarian state to the Armenian community to preserve and develop its identity and culture.
Iotova stated Bulgaria’s readiness, as a member of the European Union for 19 years, to assist Armenia with its experience on the path to closer integration with the Union.
The military conflicts in Ukraine and Iran and their consequences in all aspects were also a topic of discussion.
The head of State is visiting the Armenian capital to participate in the 8th European Political Community Summit on Monday. The forum will bring together nearly 50 heads of state and government under the motto “Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe.”
