People's Republic of China marks National Day

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - The People’s Republic of China marks its National Day today.  
China neighbours upon Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, India, Bhutan and Nepal. The country has an area of 9.6 million square km and a population of more than 1.350 billion residents. China has 23 provinces, five autonomous regions, four municipalities of central subordination (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing) and two special administrative regions, having mostly a self-governance system (Hong Kong and Macao).         
The country exports non-ferrous metals, oil, machines and industrial equipments, chemical products, ready-made clothes, textiles, silk, cotton, leather and farming goods. China imports raw materials, equipment and industrial semi-finished goods, transport means, food products. It has foreign trade with the USA, Japan, Germany, France, Spain, Russia and other countries.  
Since the introduction of the economic reforms in 1978, China has become one of the world’s biggest economies, with the quickest economic growth. In 2013, it was the second economy of the world, both in terms of overall nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the purchasing power parity. China contributed over 30 per cent to the world’s economic growth during more years and became the main source of stabilization and power for the world economic growth.    
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and the People’s Republic of China were established on 30 January 1992. At a recent reception, occasioned by the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong said that since China and Moldova had established diplomatic relations 27 years ago, the relations between the two countries became more and more closer, the benefits and the economic cooperation extended and the friendship between people became deeper.   
Statistic data shows that 85 companies with Chinese capital work in Moldova and the capital invested in the first six months of 2019 is worth almost 6.36 million lei. In January –March 2018, the foreign trade between Moldova and China amounted to 151.3 million dollars, increasing by almost 50 per cent against the same period of 2017. Estimations of a study show that, following the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, Moldova’s exports to China might increase by 39.85 per cent and the GDP might grow by 0.42 per cent.    
During 2010-2015, the government of China initiated projects worth over 18.6 million euros in Moldova. At present, the projects underway financed by the Chinese government amount to over 11.6 million euros. The Chinese cabinet donated 1,200 computers and 220 printers to universities, schools, student hostels from Moldova, within the project on endowing education institutions with electronic equipment and computer technology alone.   
Also, the government of China provides training courses for public servants from Moldova in diverse sectors. In 2014, the sides signed an inter-ministerial agreement on cooperation in the education sector, which provides for the doubling of the number of scholarships on behalf of the Chinese government (from 10 to 20 annually).  
The cultural cooperation is made based on the programme on cooperation between the Culture Ministry of Moldova and Culture Ministry of China for 2015-2018, signed on 18 February 2014. In the last years, the Chinese Culture Days are organized in Moldova with the participation of culture people from China.   
The People’s Republic of China was proclaimed on 1 October 1949.
