Over 2,300 digital medical certificates issued on very first day after launch
The new digital system for issuing medical leave certificates recorded over 2,300 certificates issued in just 24 hours after its launch. Starting March 1, 2026, the document is issued exclusively in electronic format and managed entirely online.
According to the e-Governance Agency, the certificates have been issued by doctors directly through the government eHealth platform, where they are electronically signed and registered in the system.
The data are automatically transmitted to the institutions involved, including the National Social Insurance House of the Republic of Moldova, via the secure government infrastructure.
The relevant authorities state that the new mechanism reduces bureaucracy and eliminates the need to present the document on paper. Thus, patients no longer need to return to the doctor to collect the printed certificate, nor do they have to present it physically to the employer.
At the same time, representatives of the health system emphasize that the medical certificate is not generated automatically without a medical consultation. Evaluation remains mandatory, and the document is issued only following an examination carried out by a doctor.
