Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri today took part in the commemoration events for the heroes who had died during the Transnistria War, organized on the occasion of the Day of Memory and Gratitude in the localities of Molovata Noua, Cocieri and Corjova, Dubasari district.

During the solemn ceremonies, on behalf of Moldova’s government, the deputy PM paid tribute to those who had sacrificed their lives to defend the country’s independence and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of the heroes and passing on the values of courage and dignity to future generations.

In his message, Valeriu Chiveri highlighted the need to strengthen national unity, as well as to continue the efforts undertaken by the authorities for the peaceful reintegration of the country.

“That unjust war was not an internal conflict. It was a war initiated from the outside. The army that fought against us in 1992 is still on the territory of our country today, creating difficulties in the efforts to reintegrate the state. These days remind us once again of the value of peace and of the gratitude we owe to our heroes. The war has left deep marks on families, communities and in our shared memory,” the deputy prime minister noted.

The events brought together veterans, local authorities and residents of the communities, who observed a moment of silence in memory of the heroes and reaffirmed their deep respect for those who had defended the state’s sovereignty.
