The results of interinstitutional cooperation in combating electoral corruption, the authorities' effort in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process, as well as the priorities in continuing justice reform were discussed at Anti-Corruption Platform meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The official mentioned that in recent years, in the Republic of Moldova, the most ambitious and complex justice reform has been implemented, noting the importance of this process for strengthening institutions and creating a fair and secure environment for citizens and investors.

'Justice reform is fundamental because only the application of the law guarantees the irreversibility of reforms. We have the duty to continue with much more determined and faster steps, so that no person with integrity issues holds the positions of judges and prosecutors, so that corruption cases are examined and judged quickly and fairly, so that we can recover stolen money more quickly, and so that the independent institutions we are building become resilient and oriented towards the interests of the citizens,' said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in this fall's elections, the institutions managed to dismantle a network funded from external sources, created to destroy the country's democracy: 'We would not have withstood this hybrid attack from the Russian Federation, through criminal groups, if the institutions were not prepared, did not have the appropriate mechanisms, and did not have people with integrity to manage them. The elections were the most important test, and we demonstrated what the value of justice is in national security,' said Recean.

Legislative amendments in the prevention and combating electoral corruption, the sanctions applied, the actions taken to ensure the integrity of the electoral process, as well as the importance of efficiently investigating electoral cases were discussed at the meeting.

The Anti-Corruption Platform is an advisory body attached to the Ministry, established to streamline the process of coordinating anti-corruption policies, to facilitate the active involvement of authorities and institutions in solving problems, and to facilitate interinstitutional cooperation.
