The parliament has given a vote of confidence to the cabinet of ministers led by Alexandru Munteanu and approved the EU, Peace, Development governance programme. Fifty five MPs of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) expressed support for the new government.

In his speech to the parliament, Alexandru Munteanu appreciated the efforts of the authorities and citizens of Moldova, who managed to transform the country from a captured state, ignored on the international stage, into a respected state, admired for its democratic lessons, capable of developing with the support of partners.

"This progress shows us how much we can achieve when we build together, always focusing on a common goal. The most important result is the regained hope that Moldova can be a dignified, free and strong state," the prime minister stressed.

The new PM referred to the main priorities of the governance programme, oriented towards economic growth, efficiency and European integration, noting that the document outlines the strategic direction of the country for the coming decades.

"The direction set by the citizens is the European future, a better life and safety for each family. The government's mission is for the accession to the European Union to bring tangible benefits to people even before the formal process is completed — investments, well-paid jobs, modern public services and a friendly and efficient administration," said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.

In the economic sector, the government will focus on stimulating investments of up to 4 billion euros, supporting 25,000 enterprises, promoting Moldovan products, and expanding access to European markets. As for the European integration, the authorities aim to complete accession negotiations by 2028 and implement the EU acquis in all areas.

In the years to come, a priority for Moldova will also be full interconnection with the EU energy market. The authorities also plan to continue and develop the European Village and European Courtyard programmes with investments of at least 9 billion lei in communities nationwide, modernizing up to 3,000 km of national and regional roads and starting the construction of four bridges across  the Prut River.

The new government also aims to invest at least 6 billion lei in kindergartens, schools and universities, double the scholarships for pupils and students, modernize hospitals, increase salaries, complete the evaluation of judges and prosecutors and fight against corruption.

According to the prime minister, among the sectoral priorities, there are also efficient governance through the modernization of central and local public administration, protecting cultural heritage, ensuring a clean environment, reintegration and cohesion, as well as promoting a smart and responsible foreign policy.

"I invite you all to reflect on three fundamental questions: how do we, the citizens of Moldova, want to speak about our country in a few years? How do we want others to speak about Moldova? And what country do we want to pass on to our children and grandchildren? We are ready to work, so that the answers to these questions become reality. I call on you to unite our forces for the good, prosperity, and European course of Moldova."
