Data on traffic, roads' infrastructure, transport, parking to be available on common digital platform; Moldovan parliament votes relevant draft in first reading
Chisinau, November 5, 2026 – Data on road traffic, roads’ infrastructure, transport and parking will be available on a common digital platform. The provision is included in the draft on intelligent transport systems (ITS), voted on by the parliament in the first reading.
The legislative initiative, drafted by the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), aims to establish a legal framework for the coordinated and coherent use of intelligent transport systems throughout Moldova, in line with European standards.
To this end, a National Access Point will be created as an official platform meant for the collection and management of data related to intelligent transport systems. It will include data on travel information services, road traffic, roads’ safety, as well as safe parking areas for trucks and commercial vehicles. The new platform will facilitate data exchange between public authorities, infrastructure managers and transport operators. In addition, an interoperable eCall system will be established at the national level.
The MIDR will coordinate policies in the field of ITS, while the National ITS Council will be established under the Prime Minister. The National Access Point will be managed by the National Road Transport Agency, while technical administration will be the responsibility of the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service.
The draft on intelligent transport systems will be examined by the parliament in its second reading. Following its adoption, the law will enter into force one month after its publication in the Official Journal. Subsequently, within six months, the government will draft and approve the regulatory acts necessary for its implementation.
