Reintegration Bureau: Vadim Krasnoselski to be banned from leaving Moldova for five years
Chisinau authorities intend to impose restrictive measures against Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoselski including a ban on leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova for a period of five years. The Bureau for Reintegration Policies made the statement today, following his visit to Moscow.
The institution described the actions carried out during the visit as a provocation by Russia aimed at preventing the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
“We condemn Russia's actions and will analyze possible response measures without escalating the situation, taking into account that Russia's intention to destabilize the Republic of Moldova is ongoing. Upon his return, we will impose restrictive measures on Krasnoselski, including a ban on leaving the country's territory for a period of five years,” the cited source stated.
The Bureau for Reintegration Policies emphasized that Vadim Krasnoselski's departure to Russia took place in the context of discussions facilitated by the OSCE regarding the supply of natural gas to the Transnistrian region during the winter.
“In addition to the issue of supplying gas to residents on the left bank of the Dniester, the OSCE's efforts remain essential for pragmatically managing the situation and preventing an escalation of tensions, as well as for building trust between the two banks of the Dniester, with a view to ensuring a sustainable process of reintegrating the Transnistrian region,” the institution noted.
Regarding the issue, Speaker Igor Grosu reiterated today that the territory on the left bank of the Dniester is part of the Republic of Moldova.
“This individual and the gesture made by dictator Putin toward him represent a provocation in the context of our increasingly determined actions in the European integration process. His trip was discussed with our OSCE colleagues and had a humanitarian purpose: ensuring the region's gas supply during the cold season. But because he acted in this way, through this provocation, upon his return he will be banned from leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova for the next five years,” Igor Grosu declared.
Vadim Krasnoselski was in Moscow yesterday. During the visit, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded him the Order of Honour of the Russian Federation. The distinction was granted for his activities in the Transnistrian region.
