The European agenda of Moldova, the implementation of the Growth Plan and the Swedish side's support in attracting investments and carrying out key reforms for the country have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Swedish Ambassador Petra Larke.

The PM emphasized that Sweden was one of the most important development partners of Moldova, with numerous projects implemented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

At the same time, the prime minister highlighted the support of the Kingdom of Sweden for overcoming challenges in the energy sector – in 2024, Sweden allocated 8.7 million euros to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund. Thus, the government has managed to assist the most vulnerable households, by partially subsidizing their energy invoices. Support in the energy sector continues this year – 57 residential blocks in the municipality of Chisinau will be thermally insulated and become energy efficient, thanks to a 15-million-euros-worth grant provided by Sweden.

Also, in October, Moldova’s Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization and the Swedish National Board of Trade signed a Memorandum to strengthen cooperation in the European integration process. Based on the document, the two institutions will collaborate, in order to support access for Moldovan products and services to the EU single market, which means clearer procedures and less bureaucracy for entrepreneurs in the export process to Europe.

The officials also discussed deepening cooperation in green energy, economy, security, digitalization and enhancing resilience to hybrid threats.
