Moldova to benefit from Montenegro's expertise on European path
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has met his Montenegrin counterpart, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, in Brussels.
The discussion focused on opportunities for cooperation through the exchange of experience and best practices on the two countries’ their shared European path. Montenegro's experience as an EU candidate country can provide important lessons for Moldova.
‘’Montenegro is at a quite advanced stage in closing negotiation chapters for EU accession, and we have much to learn from this valuable experience,’’ said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
The two PMs evaluated the stage at which their countries were in the negotiation process and emphasized the necessity of maintaining the constant progress, as well as the need to accelerate the pace as regards the reform agenda, in order to achieve the common goal of EU accession.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić praised Moldova's progress in its reform agenda and assured that Montenegro would continue to support Moldova on its European path.
In May 2025, Moldova and Montenegro signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of European integration, which provides for the mutual exchange of information and expertise in the process of joining the European Union.
