Moldovan parliament speaker says European parliaments support reforms in Moldova
European parliaments continue to support Moldova in the process of European integration and in the implementation of necessary reforms to modernize the state. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect, after discussions held with his counterparts from Lithuania, Croatia and Bulgaria in Stockholm today.
“Lithuania, Croatia and Bulgaria have provided their support to help us continue building strong institutions and to complete the reforms underway. We were congratulated for the results of the September 28 elections and for the fact that Moldovans, once again, chose the European path,” the speaker noted.
During the meetings with Juozas Olekas, Gordan Jandroković, and Raya Nazaryan, discussions focused on the legislative agenda, the domestic situation and the firm commitment of Moldova to prepare the country for accession to the European Union.
According to Igor Grosu, European partners reaffirmed their willingness to support Moldova both through political support and technical assistance, in order to strengthen democratic institutions and promote reforms in key areas.
Speaker Igor Grosu today participated in the fourth edition of the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform, hosted by the Swedish Riksdag (parliament). The event brought together presidents of national parliaments and interparliamentary organizations.
At the same time, in Stockholm, the parliament speaker met Moldovans residing in Sweden.
