Moldovan PM has meeting with European Council President
The government's reform priorities, focus on economic recovery and the next steps in the EU accession process were the topics of a today's meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and European Council President Antonio Costa.
During the discussions, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized the government's determination to swiftly advance on the path of European integration and to sign the Accession Treaty by 2028. In the context, the officials discussed the continuation of domestic reforms and the need to advance the negotiation process in clusters, including the adoption of decisions at the European Council level, that show Moldova’s progress.
The PM expressed gratitude for the constant support of European partners, which has brought direct and concrete benefits to the citizens of Moldova. Almost the entire banking sector has integrated into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), allowing transfers to European countries with significantly reduced fees. At the same time, starting January 1, Moldovans will benefit from Roam Like at Home across the entire European Union.
The prime minister also highlighted the progress generated by the Growth Plan for Moldova, which contributes to strengthening energy independence, expanding export quotas, supporting economic development projects, modernizing infrastructure, as well as investments in hospitals and schools.
‘’We see that our country is in the midst of transforming into a European state. Moldova has proved, through concrete actions, that it is capable and ready to fulfill all necessary commitments, in order to become a member state of the European Union and a contributor to Europe's economy and security,’’ said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
