Moldovan PM has meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement
The government's commitment to advancing the European agenda and delivering tangible results to citizens today was reaffirmed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement. The officials discussed the progress made by Moldova, in the context of last week's European Commission Report recognizing the successes achieved on the path to European integration.
"We have made remarkable progress over the past year and want to open negotiation chapters as soon as possible. Enlargement is a merit-based process, and Moldova proves, day by day, that it can implement reforms and fulfill the commitments necessary to become a European state. Recognition for our work also means the opportunity to move forward," said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
According to the PM, the country has been subjected to significant interferences, and the lessons learned are relevant for all European states. Thus, Moldova is ready to share its own experience, integrate into European peace initiatives and become an active partner in building a strong Europe. "Moving forward towards EU membership means a guarantee of peace and stability of Moldova," Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu stressed.
For her part, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said that Moldova had made the most significant annual progress among all candidate countries, a proof of the determination with which our country moves forward towards the goal of EU accession.
