Shahed-type drone crossed airspace of Moldova
The Border Police announced that, on the morning of November 25, 2025, a Shahed-type drone flew over the national airspace in the south of the Republic of Moldova. The device was detected by the Air Operations Service of the Ministry of Defense in the direction Vinogradovca – Vulcanești, after which it moved towards the border with Romania, in the area between the localities of Colibași and Vadul lui Isac, later crossing into Romanian airspace.
Romanian authorities were immediately informed about the incident. According to the Border Police, based on the received information, legal procedures were initiated, and the area of possible drone crossing is being checked. So far, no objects posing a danger to the population have been identified.
The Border Police maintains contact with national institutions and international partners and continues surveillance measures to ensure the security of the state border and citizens.
On the night of November 19, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova was previously flown over by a Russian drone. At that time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Chișinău Oleg Ozerov, and presented him with an official protest note.
Oleg Ozerov has been repeatedly summoned previously to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the context of cases where drones, allegedly launched by Russia during attacks on Ukraine, flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. In some cases, they fell and exploded in uninhabited areas - near the locality of Ciumai, Taraclia district, and on a field approximately 1.5 kilometers from the city of Ceadîr-Lunga and Valea Perjei.
Since 2022, 38 cases of unauthorized overflight of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova have been recorded.
