Government supports public authorities and covers additional expenses caused by rising electricity prices
The government will cover the additional expenses caused by rising electricity prices for local and central public authorities. In this regard, the government has approved the decision to allocate funds approved in the state budget law for 2025.
In total, 83.7 million lei will be directed to public authorities. Of this amount, 56.9 million lei will be allocated to local authorities in the form of special-purpose transfers, while 26.8 million lei will go to central public authorities.
The majority of the resources are intended for general education institutions, including allocations for sports schools.
This support measure was implemented based on requests from public authorities and the budget execution for the first half of the current year. Thus, public institutions will be able to meet their payment obligations to electricity suppliers and carry out their activities under optimal conditions.
The state budget for 2025 includes allocations to mitigate budgetary risks related to rising electricity tariffs, totaling 600 million lei.
