Moldovan president has meeting with NATO Secretary General
President Maia Sand today had a meeting with Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Mark Rutte, in transit in Moldova.
The discussions between the two officials focused on regional security developments, efforts to restore peace and the cooperation between Moldova and the NATO, based on the new Individual Partnership Programme, adopted by the government in January, 2025.
Moldova has been cooperating with NATO within the Partnership for Peace for over 30 years – a cooperation that observes the country's constitutional status of neutrality and contributes to the enhancement of its citizens’ safety. The Alliance's support has helped Moldova strengthen its capacity to prevent and respond to crises, modernize its security and defense sector institutions and protect its information and cyber space.
