Elections in Gagauzia: 83 candidates registered for Popular Assembly
Electoral councils have registered 83 candidates for the position of lawmaker in the Popular Assembly of Gagauzia and four candidates for the position of Governor (Bashkan) at the regional elections scheduled for November 15, 2026. Another 54 applications for the position of deputy and four applications for the position of Bashkan are currently under review.
According to data by the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia, 31 out of 83 candidates registered for the position of deputy were nominated by political parties, while 52 are running as independents. At the same time, a decision was adopted refusing to register one candidate.
The 54 applications under review concern the Comrat, Ceadar-Lunga and Vulcanesti electoral districts. Under the law, electoral councils must decide whether to register or refuse to register candidates within seven days after the submission of their applications.
Four candidates have been registered for the position of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia, while the applications of four other contenders are being examined by the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia.
The list of candidates registered for both elections is published and updated on the official website of the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia.
