Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration discussed priorities of Moldova’s reintegration process with representatives of international partners
On October 7, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri met with representatives of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), and the Platform for Security and Defence Initiatives (PISA).
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the country’s reintegration constitutes a national priority involving all state institutions and society as a whole, while a peaceful, comprehensive, and sustainable settlement of the Transnistrian conflict remains the fundamental objective of this process.
“We cannot achieve reintegration without consolidating the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. Our objective is to create the necessary conditions for residents on both banks of the Dniester to have access to quality public services, to move freely, and to benefit from equal opportunities,” said Valeriu Chiveri.
Another topic of the dialogue was the Convergence Fund, particularly the projects with a direct impact on citizens’ quality of life that will be implemented. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the need to develop social and medical public services in the Transnistrian region so that they become more accessible to citizens. In this regard, the establishment of a family doctors’ center in Bender could provide a solution for improving residents’ access to primary healthcare services.
The discussions also addressed the importance of education, including the right of children in the region to study the Romanian language, thereby giving them access to educational and professional opportunities.
“We have all the capacity to invest and create conditions for a safe and developed life. Reintegration must be reflected in people’s everyday lives—through freedom of movement, access to quality services, education, healthcare, and modern infrastructure,” he stressed.
The interlocutors also discussed the regional security situation. The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of developments in Ukraine for regional security and stability, noting that they have a direct impact on the security of the Republic of Moldova.
In the context of international cooperation, Valeriu Chiveri highlighted the effective interaction with the Republic of Moldova’s trusted partners and the importance of constant dialogue for advancing the country’s reintegration process through the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders.
