Moldovan president has meeting with delegation of MEPs
President Maia Sandu today met a group of European Parliament members from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). The discussions focused on the next steps in Moldova’s accession process to the European Union. The delegation included Sven Mikser (Estonia), the European Parliament’s standing rapporteur for Moldova, Kathleen Van Brempt (Belgium), Nacho Sánchez Amor (Spain) and Vasile Dîncu (Romania).
The head of state thanked the European Parliament for its political support for Moldova, including through the resolutions adopted in support of the country’s European path. President Maia Sandu emphasized that Moldova continued to implement reforms and was advancing in the merit-based accession negotiations, so that citizens can feel the benefits of closer ties with the EU even before accession. The interlocutors also discussed the European Union’s preparations for enlargement, as well as European support for strengthening the security of Moldova.
