Results of UN Moldova entities' activities in 2024 and current priorities discussed at government

The results of the partnership between the Government and United Nations entities in the Republic of Moldova and the alignment of external assistance programs with the needs and strategic objectives of our country were discussed in a meeting at the government.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean thanked the family of UN entities in Moldova for their constant support to the communities and people of the Republic of Moldova, as well as for the assistance contributing to the strategic objective of European integration.

Particularly, the support provided to Ukrainian citizens hosted in our country was mentioned. 'The Republic of Moldova remains close to Ukraine, and we ensure that Ukrainians living here feel at home: we integrate them into the social, economic systems and the labor market, and we thank you for your support in this regard,' said the Prime Minister.

UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova Yesim Oruc emphasized that thanks to the close partnership between UN entities and the Government, the support of the international community is aligned with local needs to maximize results. 'As Moldova advances in the EU accession agenda, the work of the UN is increasingly aligned with the national reforms needed to advance in the European integration process and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,' said the UN Resident Coordinator.

The meeting highlighted the progress made over the past year in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and progress in areas such as human rights, social protection, environment, public health, and refugee inclusion. In particular, RESTART reform for modernizing the social protection system, supporting over 790,000 families through the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, and conducting the population and housing census in 2024 were mentioned.

They reviewed the strategic development documents of the Republic of Moldova, focusing on Moldova Growth Plan, funded by the European Union, which serves as a benchmark for planning future activities.
