Railway to receive state financial support for infrastructure maintenance and modernization
The government is improving the management of railway infrastructure and establishing a stable budget co-financing mechanism for the maintenance and modernization of Moldova's railway network. The Multiannual contract for railway infrastructure management has been approved to this end.
Under the document, annual allocations from the state budget are planned for repair, maintenance and development of the railway infrastructure. The exact amount will be set when signing the document.
The contract will have a duration between 3 and 5 years and will include clear mechanisms for monitoring the works performed, ensuring that public funds are used responsibly.
The multiannual contract's implementation will ensure the necessary conditions for increasing train safety and speed, enhancing the competitiveness of railway transport and reducing road wear by transferring freight traffic from trucks to trains.
