Moldovans with Romanian citizenship urged to participate in Romanian presidential elections
Moldovans who also hold Romanian citizenship are urged to participate in the runoff presidential elections, due at the end of this week. Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă said today that this "is a unique opportunity that we should take advantage of, especially since it concerns the direction Romania will take for the next five years."
Daniel Vodă explained that the runoff elections will be held under the same conditions as the first round, which was organized two weeks ago.
"This means that during the three election days, at the same polling stations that were set up in the first round, i.e., over 50 locations across the country, all Moldovans who are also citizens of Romania have the opportunity to choose the future leader at Cotroceni. It is a unique opportunity that we should harness, especially since it concerns the direction Romania will take for the next five years," said Daniel Vodă.
He highlighted that Romania is always close to the Republic of Moldova and is our advocate in the European integration process.
"We are connected to Romania by a community of language, culture, and shared identity, which holds us responsible, especially those who are also citizens of Romania, to actively participate and support a candidate who also supports the interests of the Republic of Moldova. Therefore, during these three election days, we invite all our compatriots who have Romanian citizenship to participate actively and engage in the country's future," concluded Daniel Vodă.
The voting process for the runoff presidential elections will take place over three days - Friday, May 16 - Sunday, May 18, between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM. 64 polling stations will be operating in Moldova. Thus, in the Northern region, 18 stations will be organized, in the Central region - 38 stations, of which 20 in Chișinău, and in the Southern region - 8 polling stations.
