Moldovan PM participates in Gagauz Festival Hederlez in Ceadar-Lunga

Prime Minister Dorin Recean has celebrated, along with residents of Moldova’s southern region, one of the most important holidays of the Gagauz community – Hederlez, which celebrates the rebirth of nature and the hope for a rich and fruitful agricultural year.

PM Dorin Recean congratulated those present at the event, noting that this event highlighted the Gagauz culture, the cultural diversity of the country and the unity of ethnicities. ‘’I admired the hospitality, the skill of the people and the care with which they preserve traditions. Our nation is enriched by the contribution of each ethnicity and we are stronger through unity,’’ said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The Hederlez festival includes exhibitions of art and traditions, craft fairs, ethnic courtyards with local music and cuisine, the traditional wrestling tournament GÜREŞ, workshops for children and young people, as well as artistic performances.

The event was organized by the local public administration from Ceadar-Lunga, in partnership with the Agency for Interethnic Relations of Moldova’s government.
