Action and Solidarity Party officially puts forward Alexandru Munteanu's candidacy for PM office

The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) will submit Alexandru Munteanu's candidacy for the position of prime minister. The PAS leader, Igor Grosu, has made statements to this effect, after the meeting of the party’s National Political Council, during which Munteanu's candidacy was unanimously supported.

According to Grosu, Munteanu is "a person with the profile and experience that align with the current needs of our country, especially regarding economic growth."

"Tomorrow we will go to President Maia Sandu to put forward Mr. Munteanu's candidacy. We consider him a person who has the necessary profile and experience to address the current challenges of our country, especially concerning economic growth."

For his part turn, Alexandru Munteanu sent a message to his colleagues and supporters:

"Thank you for your trust. It is a great honor and responsibility for me, and I will make every effort to honor this challenge in my life. I will strive to work for the good of the homeland, for the Republic of Moldova, to develop it and to find our place in the great European family."

Today, President Maia Sandu started consultations with the parliamentary factions and groups on the nomination of the candidate for the position of prime minister, following the formation of the parliament of the 12th legislative period.

Representatives of the Political Party Democracy at Home, the Political Party Our Party, the Political Bloc Alternative, the Party of Communists and the Party of Socialists of Moldova were invited to the Presidency.

On October 24, the majority faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) will come to the consultations.

According to the supreme law, the designated candidate for the position of premier will request, within 15 days, the parliament's vote of confidence on the activity programme and the composition of the cabinet of ministers. The new government will be sworn in office, if it gets the majority of the MPs' votes.

Following the validation of the September 28 elections, the government led by Prime Minister Dorin Recean is in a limited exercise of powers.
