Authorities report new fake on president "plans to send over 700 volunteers to Ukraine"
Authorities have reported fake information in the public domain claiming that President Maia Sandu 'plans to send over 700 volunteers to Ukraine' if the Action and Solidarity Party wins the parliamentary elections. The claim was denied by Presidential spokesman Igor Zaharov.
The information was published on a Turkish website and propagated by Russian media as well as Telegram and Facebook channels.
Zaharov denied the information appearing on several communication channels and emphasized that it aims to 'manipulate public opinion'.
'As President Maia Sandu previously mentioned, we will encounter many falsehoods and scare tactics during this campaign. This new falsehood only confirms the plan of ill-intentioned actors to manipulate public opinion. Staying vigilant is what matters most,' said Igor Zaharov.
In this context, the authorities have repeatedly urged citizens to treat public information with caution and to get information only from official sources.
