
Moldovan health minister makes statements following raids at Balti Hospital
The fight against corruption is a priority aspect in the current reforms of the health sector and leaders and managers of the system have a great responsibility in this regard. Health Minister Ala Nemerenco today made statements to this effect, in the context of the raids made at the Balti Clinical Hospital on more corruption files.
The official condemned the acts and schemes of corruption.
‘’The result of the society’s change does not come instantly, but I am sure that we will live to see the day when there will be no schemes and bribery here. My position, as well as of the ministry's stays firm - everyone knows: zero tolerance to any form of corruption and the continuous cleansing of the system,’’ emphasized Ala Nemerenco.
The director of the Balti Clinical Hospital today was detained for 72 hours for abuse of office, influence peddling and passive corruption, committed in the context of public procurement procedures and the hospital's internal administrative activities. The law-enforcement bodies are conducting procedural actions in nine corruption cases involving decision-makers of the medical institution.
