Record number of lyceum graduates choose to study at Moldova's universities this year
Moldova in 2014 had a historic peak of lyceum graduates who chose to study at universities of Moldova, and in 2025, the country will surpass this result. Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun on August 28 made statements to this effect at the TVR programme, Common Objective.
“The result is also the effect of a quite extensive campaign conducted in the country, when we had thousands of students who went to see our universities, the modernization processes which occur and the universities managed to convince them, as the figures show us,” said Perciun.
At the same time, according to the minister, the number of students admitted to the 10th grade is comparable to the one of the last year, being slightly lower by a few hundred children, despite the fact that the high school graduation exams were tougher than in other years.
In 2025, over 19,800 people expressed interest in studying in Moldovan universities, of whom over 15,000 applied for undergraduate studies and about 4,790 for master's degrees. According to the education minister, the most demanded fields of study were: Economic Sciences, Law, Health and Engineering. Also, the highest admission average is in Medicine.
In 2025, the Ministry of Education and Research allocated 8,712 budgeted places in higher education institutions of Moldova.
