Moldovan foreign affairs minister has talks with PM of State of Qatar; recent security developments in Middle East on agenda
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
During the discussion, the sides addressed recent security developments in the Middle East, including the attacks on the territory of the State of Qatar and their impact on the regional stability.
“I expressed the solidarity of Moldova with the State of Qatar and condemned the attacks targeting military and civilian infrastructure. We also discussed the situation of Moldovan citizens in Qatar. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani assured that the authorities were making every effort to guarantee the safety of citizens and foreign residents, including citizens of Moldova,” said Mihai Popsoi.
The Moldovan diplomacy head also emphasized the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the principles of international law. At the same time, the Qatari side thanked Moldova for its position set forth and for the bilateral partnership relations.
The two officials highlighted the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts and dialogue to prevent the escalation of tensions and to maintain stability in the region.
