VIDEO // One year passes since launch of Identity Card in Moldova: over 360,000 documents requested
The Public Services Agency (ASP) today marks one year since the introduction of the new identity document for Moldova’s citizens, known as the Identity Card. This modern document, equipped with an electronic signature, was meant to facilitate digital interaction between citizens and state institutions.
First-year overview and free issuance for the first million documents
Since the official launch of the project, public interest has been significant, with approximately 360,000 citizens having already submitted applications for the new document. ASP reminds the public that the first one million Identity Cards are issued free of charge, giving holders the possibility to use the electronic signature stored on the document’s data support.
This initiative is part of the national digitalization strategy, aimed at facilitating access to public services without the need for physical presence at service counters.

The main advantage of the Identity Card with an electronic signature is the ability to access online the entire portfolio of digital services provided by ASP and other public institutions.
By using this modern document, citizens benefit from a range of logistical advantages:
Accessibility: Public services can be requested directly from electronic devices, without traveling to institutional offices.
Efficiency: The process eliminates the need to stand in line and significantly reduces the time lost by applicants.
Security: The electronic signature stored on the document guarantees the integrity and authenticity of the digital transactions carried out.
“Through this stage of modernization, we are taking an important step towards the digital transformation of the public administration, providing technological solutions adapted to the current needs of citizens,” the Public Services Agency concludes.
