Head of State signed decree appointing new Prosecutor General of Moldova

The Presidency of the Republic of Moldova

President Maia Sandu today signed the Decree appointing Alexandru Machidon as Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova.

Alexandru Machidon has served since 28 May 2025 as Acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova and, starting from 30 April 2026, will exercise the position of Prosecutor General with full powers, following the approval by the Superior Council of Prosecutors at the 16 April meeting of the report of the Evaluation Commission, which established that Alexandru Machidon meets the ethical and financial integrity criteria set out in Article 11 of Law No. 252/2023, thus passing the external evaluation.

The new Prosecutor General is to take the oath of office today.
